The following information applies only to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia.
Although all the Houses operate under similar guidelines, you will find that each House has its own personality.
The Ronald McDonald House is a Home Away From
Home for families whose children are undergoing
treatment at Macon area hospitals. Our goal is
to provide temporary, affordable, yet quality
housing in a comfortable, caring environment for
all of the families who stay at our House. Our
policies and procedures were developed to
support this goal.
Any person who stays at the Ronald McDonald
House must be able to peacefully interact with
others in a community household. He/she must
agree to abide by all house. Everyone who stays
at the Ronald McDonald House is a volunteer and
must be prepared to help keep the house clean
and orderly. Failure to follow the guidelines
will be grounds for removal from the Ronald
McDonald House.
Who qualifies to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia?
All families must be referred to the RMH from a social worker, doctor or nurse at the Macon pediatric facility at which they will be seen and resides outside Bibb County. Families with a child or children eighteen (18) years of age or younger and be admitted to or receiving treatment at the Children's Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia or the Coliseum Medical Center. Please see your social worker/case manager for further eligibility requirements. House staff will verify the hospital appointments and periodically review the status of the patients' treatment with the hospitals. The House welcomes families regardless of race, religion, nationality, gender or abilities. Exceptions to the guidelines may be made at the discretion of House staff members.
How can I make
arrangements to stay at the Ronald McDonald
House?
All families must be referred to the Ronald
McDonald House from a social worker, doctor or
nurse at the Macon hospital at which they will
be seen or are currently being seen.
What is the cost of
staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Central
Georgia?
Families are asked to pay a nightly room charge
of $15.00. Payment can be made by cash, check,
Visa, American Express, MasterCard or Discover. If the
$15.00 per night fee is a hardship for your
family, please ask the House Manager about
special payment arrangements. The manager will
review your situation and try to make
appropriate arrangements to accommodate you.
What time can I
check into the House?
Families can check in between the hours of 9 am
and 5:30 pm on Monday – Friday.
Families can check in between the hours of 9 am
and 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday
Check in takes 30 – 40 minutes, so please plan
accordingly. We ask families for a donation of
$15 per night, however no one is turned away
because of inability to pay. Donations from
families help off set the costs to provide care
and comfort for your family and families that
will come after you. We will be happy to work
with you to determine what is appropriate for
your family. Payments can be made by cash,
check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or
Discover.
All adults staying in the room must present a
valid photo ID and complete the registration
process before being shown to their room.
What are the House Guidelines?
The Ronald McDonald House is a unique
facility. It is not a hotel but a communal
living environment. Since 13 families are
sharing living space, this house may not be an
appropriate arrangement for everyone. All guests
are dependent upon previous and future guests'
cooperation in living and working together to
keep our home safe, clean and operating
smoothly. We ask that all guests treat our House
as their home, including the responsibility of
maintaining it. If you have any special skills
in this regard, please notify the managers.
ALCOHOL is not permitted on our premises. This
includes the parking lot.
SMOKING is strictly prohibited in the House. All
tobacco products are strictly prohibited.
Outside smoking area is provided.
PETS, ILLEGAL DRUGS, FIREARMS, AND OTHER WEAPONS
are forbidden (no exceptions).
FOOD is permitted ONLY in the kitchen and dining
room. Please clean under your dining table after
eating, rinse dishes and put them in the
dishwasher.
The PLAYROOM and TEENROOM close at 9:00 pm. This
insures that residents who have bedrooms
overhead or close by are not disturbed.
RESIDENTS must respect the privacy and personal
property of the other residents of the House and
the privacy, property and operations of the
House itself. The management reserves the right
to enter and inspect all rooms at any time at
its discretion.
DISHES, for purposes of sanitation, must all be
washed in one of the three dishwashers. PLEASE do
not leave dishes in the sinks. Dishes are to be
loaded immediately into the dishwashers. All
families are asked to start dishwashers when
they are full and to unload when the cycle is
finished. Guests are expected to wash their own
dishes and help keep the kitchen tidy. This is a
never ending task.
CHILDREN: Parents are required to supervise
their children at all times and are responsible
for their behavior in the House. After 10 p.m.,
we request that children are quiet or in their
rooms so that other families can rest.
Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
All guests must wear shirts and shoes at all
times in the public areas.
A family is eligible to remain at the House as
long as their child is in active treatment at a
local hospital or medical facility and they follow all guidelines.
Upon check-in you will be given a complete copy
of the Guidelines. It is necessary for you to
follow these guidelines or you may be asked to
vacate the House.
At check-out, a family is asked to leave their
room very clean for the next family.
